it's a new day

It is a banana pancake sort of morning.

The birds are calling as rain fills the children's toys out back.

The melancholy that was Monday has passed, and new hope has seeped in--maybe with the rain?

I am preparing to hit the treadmill this morning, but will be walking for a change. My big brother, my chiropractor, has confirmed serious strains in my back. So for a week now, I have been resting and icing. Surprisingly, I have been relatively easy on myself. Every now and then, my mind tries to tell me that I've gained ten pounds in the last week without running, but I know better. And better is to lay off--lay off the self-criticism, the expectations and rest.

Oh, and exchange my morning protein shake with banana pancakes.

Good for you Cassie. Everyone needs a little R&R. Sorry that your back is jacked up though. That is the worst! Hope your pancakes were as good as those ones looked though. Yummy!

I agree. I think being healthy is also knowing when you need a break! :) I love banana pancakes, I even throw in some peanut butter! :)

I was wondering how do you get your Goodreads onto your blog. I would love to do that on mine... I tried a couple of things but they did not work. Thank you. :)

Yes, banana pancakes are so delicious, and I wish you could all come and enjoy them with me sometime.

Summer--I hope you received my email. For anyone else who is trying to figure out how to add Goodreads to your blog, here is what I sent to Summer:

"The way that you can add Goodreads to your blog is go to your "my books" tab in your goodreads account and on the left-hand side under "tools" click on widgets. There you will see the code to put onto your blog. I believe "widget" is an option to add under your blogger layout section, and there you can paste the code."

Have a fabulous day!

Cassie, hope your back starts feeling better soon! But yes, the best thing to do is rest and ice, for sure. I've felt the same way this last week and a half since the marathon. I'm used to running so much and I've been taking it easy, (only 3 days this week) and I swear I've gained 20 lbs., but I know it's in my head. Enjoy your time of relaxation!!

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
