a festive felt garland

In years past, I felt my tree was missing a layer.  It's needed more love, more texture, and a better garland.  I just knew when I saw this idea in Do it Yourself magazine, that I had found my Christmas tree's perfect match.  Unfortunately, the magazine vanished and has not been seen in weeks.  Very depressing.  However, I did find this sweet little blog's diy circle garland post, and found the circle template to be very helpful.

I used two sheets of each five colors of felt.  If you make a garland, put on a movie, and/or break it into a couple of days, because it does take some time.  What is great, is that I was able to create 20 yards of felt Christmas tree garland for four dollars.  You can't beat it, and the intrinsic value of a craft complete and looking pretty, makes me smile.

Merry decorating!

Wonderful idea. Our tree was missing something this year so we decided to string cranberries and popcorn, old school and still soooo cool. I am thinking I need a felt garland next year.

oh... and your photos make me smile :0)lovely

Oh Cassie, I loooove it! You'll have to post pictures of your pretty tree. :) I've really enjoyed catching up on your blog - sorry I've been away, still recovering. You've made me crave cheesecake, cry (your clarity post was beautiful and so moving and I am totally blown away and inspired by your passion for those dealing with abuse), laugh (what is it about men and power tools?), and once again be inspired to create something beautiful. It's been such a joy catching up!! I hope your week is treating you right. :)

xoxo,
Bonnie

Wow, this is great! I looked at some of your other posts and noticed your first singing idols were Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Those were my HEROS when I was taking singing classes. So cool!

I'm also a writer and glad I found your beautiful blog. Excited to be a new follower! Have a great weekend :)

Cassie, I love your Christmas tree garland. I can't have a tree this year as we are giving the upstairs in our 35 year old home a bit of a face lift. Nothing major but no matter how small the mess seems to creep through the entire house, LOL. BUT, that gives me plenty of time to get one of these great garlands made for next year and I am going to do that. I love a garland on a tree, and this one appeals to me so much because I love hand made items. Anything made from the hand and the heart is so special. Thanks for such a great idea! By the way, on an earlier post you said about your hubby as he surprised you with the tree, "I've always found him especially attractive with a tool in hand." I loved the post and that little closing comment totally made me smile. After being married to the only guy I ever dated for almost 43 years, I must say, as I watch him work on the house while I type this, I have to agree with you. Have a blessed day. Hugs...

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
