garage sale finds

A while back, I fell for garage saleing.  Who cares the guy said he had to get rid of these because his wife wasn't a fan...or that colored glass is old school.  They are giving my window sill some colored love.  Plus, we get the perfect amount of light to let them shine for the better part of the day.  Who knows for sure, if they'll stay long, or eventually go up in the shop--I just don't know.  I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with this place.

I plan to continue to search and collect, but I've made a rule for myself.
I must scavenge them.  I can't purchase a lot on ebay or etsy.
That would ruin the fun.
 Can I get a ya-hoo for $.50 a piece?!
I also found these babies at a yard sale down the road.
$3 a piece for "provisions" as Husband would call them.
When we moved in, he was all talk about gathering our "provisions."
I had to ask what he meant, and then I told him to not get all little-house-on-the-prairie on me.

But he said it!  Provisions.  Here they are with some sweet vintage appeal!
I'm picturing these on my mantle (the mantle that still needs to be built) atop a few books...

I also met a new friend (who was hosting the sale) that day.
She seemed to be around my age, just moved out of the city and told me she has been enjoying the quiet, lots of books and spontaneous walks on the country roads.
My type of gal.  I even told her about Etsy.  I always feel I've done a good service when I tell others about Etsy.  You, too?

When I returned home and told Husband about my new friend (who I'm quite excited about--since there are a lot of old timers around here) he asked if I knew her from high school?  No, I just met her, I said.  Then he chuckled, and it dawned on me.
I guess I'm using the term, friend, quite loosely.

I didn't think it, but maybe I'm yearning for some more friends?
I love friends!

Any good finds garage saleing lately?

I LOVE garage/tag/moving out sales!! Matter of fact this past weekend we were with some friends and found a sale going on. I picked up firewood holder that I was thinking i'd use as a magazine holder instead since i don't have a fireplace. I also picked up some really artsy looking salt and pepper shakers that were made in Italy and a sugar holder. My husband picked up some old Normal Rockwell paintings and a needlepoint 'ABC/123' that was done back in 1888!! CRAZY NO?!

Garage/tag sales are so inspiring to me because it makes me want to rush home and find a home for my new finds (find a home for my new finds, say that 5x loll).

Matter of fact when we're real bored and don't know what to do we usually will take a ride up north out of the city because we're BOUND to definitely find a few sales going on.

p.s. LOVE the colored bottles and the "provisions"!

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
