oh tomato!

I am so glad that I have learned to love tomatoes over the years!
Because if I didn't, I couldn't make this every other week:

Margarita Pizza is way too delicious, and quite healthy, too.
I like to buy the wheat pizza dough from Trader Joe's, and I never buy store-brand mozzarella.  It just wouldn't be right.  You know?  I just wish the basil pictured was from my garden.
But the truth is--all my herbs died.

I hear they can be planted all throughout the year, so I may just give it another whirl.
The cook needs her herbs.

Another favorite recipe of mine that involves this dynamic duo is

One word.
Delicious.
And perfect for using your homegrown tomatoes and even more perfect for a summer afternoon.

Do you have any favorite recipes for using your tomatoes?

It all looks good Cass. I love that duo so I need to make both of those soon. I so wish we had a Trader Joes around here. I just use pita bread though when I make those pita pizzas and broil it in the oven for a few minutes (Keri taught me that.) Also, another recipe I got from Keri is her Angel Hair pasta with tomatoes, basil and mozz. It's really good. Sometimes I put Uncle Steves chicken on it too (And Keri, if you're reading this ~ I know ~ I totally steal all of your recipes because I think you're an amazing cook!)

Looks delicious! Yesterday I bought one of those large basil plants at TJ's, and naturally thought, "Pizza Margherita!" I'm excited to give it a try - maybe with the wheat dough you recommend. Now, if only I could successfully grow something larger than a cherry tomato...

Erika-I think I might just make my way to TJ's today to take a look at the herb plants and pick up some more pizza dough!

Joyce-I hope you have yourself a LOVELY weekend. :)

Oh man, one of my ALL TIME favorite things about summer is garden tomatoes. And Margarita Pizza is the best!! I too wish we had a trader joe's. I'd love the recipe for your soup if it's handy!

I eat a shocking amount of tom/mozz/basil salad in the summer but I also like a warm quinoa salad with carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, balsamic and parma cheese (OR goat cheese)...eat that for dinner nearly every night.....yum.

Yummies! Sorry to hear about your herbs. Mine are still going strong... a little yellowed from our recent heat wave, but hopefully they'll survive. I adore using fresh herbs on everything! :) xo

Jillian-I will HAVE to try that delicious quinoa salad you mentioned. It sounds delightful. :)

Two of our fave recipes around here!!! Love 'em!

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
