Day 8--Get Crafty

I got together with my good girlfriend, Brittany the other day to do crafts. She is so much fun, and such a sweet-spirit! We have SO many fun things that we want to do, but so little time. The project for the day was toget the supplies for the letters for our sons' names. You want to know something funny? I found that Brittany is my perfect match of a friend! We both had two kids in-tow--a boy and a girl each, are both indicisive and move at a nice mild pace. At least I think this is how she always is, or she was being extremely patient with me! My hubby doesn't know how it's possible for me to move so slow, so it is nice to have a friend whose pace is like mine and is in NO hurry. How's life fun if you're in a hurry, anyway??

Unfortunately, this project went bust on me. The crackle didn't work on these letters as I had planned. Note--never use crackle on cardboard. Sounds obvious? Not for me at the time.

Conviently, I just so happened to have another set of wood letters that I had picked up the other day that I planned to use initally, but decided against last minute. So I got them out and figured they would be better since they are wood and they are the same letters that are in Brooklynn's room. Bust again!?! That crackle is lame.

Before:

After:

Do you see how the last two letters show hardly any signs of the so-called "crackle," which actually looked more like a inconsistent streaking. Not that bad--but inconsistent.

Sadly, the project remains unfinished. I don't feel happy about the paint situation so I must figure out how to salvage the letters. I need to get back to it soon, because otherwise, it might become an unfinished project that gets shoved in some closet and is forgotten about. Know what I'm talking about? So much for that project!

Sounds like so many of my episodes with crafting. I think it would be cute to put scrapbook paper on the top of the letters.

Good luck, eventually you'll get to the finished product. :)

I know it will be awesome when you are finished! Sometimes our mistakes turn into the most creative and ingenious start to something new!

I am so glad you and Britt had a great time together. Love you both.

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
