Back to School :: Don't Blink!
This last week, I sent both my babies off to school, again. I felt pretty prepared, but during the final days of summer, I thought of the things that we didn't get to, and wondered if I entertained them enough over the summer, if we'd done enough together? You know, those sort of insecurities that come with being a mother? But I was able to brush the doubt off rather quickly, and be happy for the fun that we did have--camping, a family reunion in Montana, we added quite a few new pets to our homestead, and had fun doing the little things like berry picking and making homemade ice cream.
There was lots of bike riding, tending to our garden and harvesting and playing outdoors with friends. Summer was good, relaxed and enjoyed, for sure.
My Brooklynn loves school. With that, it sure makes sending her off onto the school bus that much easier. I didn't have to do what I did last year, because I was confident in her confidence. When she came home after her first full day of school, we asked what she thought, and she said, "I think I was gone for maybe, two hours?"
It was actually about 7.5 hours and I felt it. It was a long time, and by the end of the week, I was missing her, a lot.
A whole lot changes in just one year!
Then there's my sweet rascal, Asher.
Woah. He was a baby last year! Now, he means serious boy-business.
And to second what I'm saying, he's been taking naps lately. He didn't even do that at two! He's growing into such a funny, sweet, imaginative, happy little boy, who needs more rest these days to keep up with the adventure within him. Now I just need to accumulate the same pictures of him on his first days!
He also loves a good fohawk and wearing happy birthday stickers on his first day of school.
He makes me smile.
They make me smile.
Hope all you mamas are having a happy beginning to your school year!
