It Was Merry & Pretty Calendars

I can hardly believe Christmas has already come and gone!  It went so fast and was so busy that I officially failed at taking Christmas photos.  Now I feel guilty about it all, as I have hardly a thing to show for this special time.  Besides lacking photos, our Christmas was full.  A Christmas Eve meal with family and Pioneer Woman side dishes, hot Wassail, singing, games, comedy, dessert with my brother and his family and Husband's family (it is so nice to be able to combine families during special occasions), friends, naps, sleeping in late, reading, and of course, the full meaning of the holiday are the many things we enjoyed last weekend.

We are so thankful.

With the New Year fast approaching, there are a few things on my mind:

1) Our plans.  I'm hearing it is going to go something like...our house, Dance Dance Revolution, Ping Pong,
music, and fondue.  Having children and having friends who have children has given us a whole new outlook on ringing in the New Year.  We like to do it family style.  The kids may be asleep, but we like to at least have them near as we ring in the New Year.

2) My New Year's resolution(s).  I'm working on these.  I don't want to go overboard or anything, but I like to gear myself up for a challenge or two during the New Year.

3) My 2012 calendar and planner:  Is it just me or isn't it fun getting a new calendar for the new year?!

I've been eyeing these...

Bookish Things

happy wednesday!
here's a few more bookish finds for you book and word lovers...
an outdoor book-themed feast.
a mini leather bound book boomark, in the shop.
pillows with words on Etsy.

How's your Wednesday coming?  Husband's requested that I sort through some of my shop things in the garage.  We've been doing some shuffling of goods in effort to use the space around here more efficiently.
Husband has his shop, while I have the sunroom as my studio, but still each of our things are spilling into other areas... It's always work, work, work around here.

{Sigh} Worthy

I'll take one of each of these, please!

I love this color so much that I want to hop in the car, pick up a few gallons {in a slightly richer tone} and make a serious statement in my living room or entry. I'd do it if I didn't believe Husband would send me straight back to the paint store to get the supplies to paint over it.  Maybe he'd let me do it in the girl bathroom??

I'm linking up to Friday Pretties
Go on over to I Love Pretty Little Things to see more beautiful things!

Anthro also has one on sale called the Bookworm Necklace.
If only they didn't each cost a pretty, pretty penny.

Penguin Books will forever make me swoon.

Baby Night Night Boutique...and a Valentine's Giveaway!!

When I was young, I had one friend who was just as passionate as I about Barbies, Barbie houses, towns, and Barbies on Broadway.  We traveled between houses with our pink suitcases and internal alarm clocks that would wake us early enough to
begin a day's worth of Barbies.  That was nearly twenty years ago.

Just this last year, our lives collided again, not over Mattel toys, but our love for Etsy and creative things.  Although she lives in Peoria, Arizona, and I in Camas, Washington, we've picked up right where we left off, but this time, with children and new lines of creativity.

Please meet Tricia.
She's the inspired hands and heart behind the sweet Etsy boutique,
Baby Night Night.
Tricia and baby Bella.

Tricia...
How and when did you learn to sew?
I learned to sew when I was 14...it was a perfect, terrible disaster. My mother had me make a dress for my very first project...needless to say, I never finished that project.
Then when my 3 year old was 6 months old, I picked it up again. I bought a $20 machine from Target that pretty much fit in the palm of my hand. I liked it and started on other little projects and got a "big girl" sewing machine.
What is your favorite item to make in the shop?
My favorite thing to sew is probably refashioned items and my ruffle bloomers. I can't get enough of ruffles. But I do love everything I sew--blankets, snugglies, dresses, hair accessories...anything.
What inspires you when you create?
My inspiration and drive comes from my mother, really. I usually say my girls, which it does also, but really it is the desire to be like my mother. She always made me beautiful for all my school dances, and I felt like a model on my wedding day when she designed my wedding dress.
I just want to provide that for my daughters.
I see that you are celebrating your first year of business!  Congratulations!
What is your hope for 2011?
My hope for for 2011 is to go for it. Don't hold back! I recently hired a seamstress because of my recent business ventures.  It feels good to do what I want, and have people believe in me and want to be a part of my team.
One last thing...
How long is your Anniversary Sale going?
I hope to keep my sale going on throughout the rest of this week. I want people to know how much I appreciate their business and support for helping me get to where I am in my business.

antler love

I'm sure I am not the only one who has watched
antlers become quite a trend recently.
Well, I'm smitten.
Here are a few antler-inspired Etsy finds that I am loving.

Personally, this little face, loving these antlers is my favorite.

Have you settled into the season or are you still hustling about?
Today, I shipped off the last of my Christmas Etsy orders, and
I've made good headway in the gift department in the last two days!
I'm breathing a tad easier now.

P.S. Thanks for all your Etsy love and support.  It warms my heart!

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
