Triple date to Urban Farmer

Saturday night, Husband, his brother, his best friend and their ladies and I went to Portland to fine dine.  I'd never been to Urban Farmer, a beautiful restaurant on the eighth floor of The Nines luxury hotel, and it was amazing.  I wish I took more pictures of the restaurant itself, as the ceilings were about six stories tall and it was laid out like an open home floor plan, with three-sided rooms for people to gather, put their feet up and have drinks.  The ambiance in the dining area was perfect, and the menu....well, let's just say we were thrilled about happy hour.

If you go, I highly recommend the cheese cart appetizer to share with your friends.  You get to choose up to six cheeses to try and about 1 oz. of each cheese.  It was so neat to try each one and pair it with crackers and flavored honey.  I also ordered up the beef slider.  That could have very well been the best slider I've ever eaten.  In fact, I'm sure of that statement.  And yes.  I totally forgot about my Paleo challenge that night.  I'd definitely return to Urban Farmer for another late-night happy hour!

Of course one of my favorite parts of the restaurant was "the library."  You guys.  If there is a library in a restaurant (with a pool table), the owners know what's up.  And if there is a rainbow color-coded library--I'm posing in front of it.  Duh.
...and some will do handstands on metallic tree stumps in front of said library.

Nights out in Portland always get me thinking that there is way more for us to see and do in that gem of a city.

Any favorite spot recommendations?

Late Spring Reads & Book Recommendations Wanted

It has been in the high eighties here in the Northwest, for the last five days or so, and we are seriously soaking it up!  Nothing beats outdoor exercise after months and months of running on a treadmill!

Now that the weather has turned, it makes me want to throw a blanked out back and read under a tree.  I'm just about finished with The Book Thief, and craving another good book.  Something reminiscent, inspiring, uplifting.  You know--something perfect for this segue into summer!

During college, (ten years ago!) my professor recommended reading Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury, during the month of May.  I think that's a recommendation that I should complete this year...

What are you reading?
Any recommendations?

Library Love

One of my greatest duties and joys as a mother,
is to instill within my children,
a love for the library.

And obviously, there is no such thing
as too many books.
If they don't fit in your pack--carry them.
P.S.  I'm spring cleaning my Etsy shop!  Pop over and snag the code for 20% off your purchase!

Bookish Things

happy wednesday!
here's a few more bookish finds for you book and word lovers...
an outdoor book-themed feast.
a mini leather bound book boomark, in the shop.
pillows with words on Etsy.

How's your Wednesday coming?  Husband's requested that I sort through some of my shop things in the garage.  We've been doing some shuffling of goods in effort to use the space around here more efficiently.
Husband has his shop, while I have the sunroom as my studio, but still each of our things are spilling into other areas... It's always work, work, work around here.

Bookish Things and Proclamations

Every library should look this way:

I need this necklace.

Fall Stacks by TheBlackSpotBooks on Etsy
Anthro also has one on sale called the Bookworm Necklace.
If only they didn't each cost a pretty, pretty penny.

Penguin Books will forever make me swoon.

Penguin Books Designed by David Pearson,
and you've seen these Penguin books, right?

{insert sigh here}.

On another note, I woke up to glorious sunshine today,
with skies robust blue.
Perfect segue for the weekend!

Happy Friday, friends!

“You must write every single day of your life... You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads... may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ― Ray Bradbury
